I hereby respectfully nominate for the 2008 Nobel Prize in Physics the Italian-American scientist Professor Ruggero Maria Santilli (CV The reason for the nomination is that I know of no discovery that could compare, even minimally, with the mathematical, theoretical and experimental discoveries made by Prof. Santilli on the synthesis of the neutron from protons and electrons as occurring in stars, and know of no other discoveries that could compare with the consequential scientific, environmental and social implications. I enclose my review memoir The Rutherford-Santilli neutron, Hadronic Journal Vol. 31, pages 1-114 (2008), while a comprehensive presentation is available in Prof. Santilli's monographs Hadronic Mathematics, Mechanics and Chemistry, Volumes I, II, III, IV and V, International Academic Press (2008), with free downloads in pdf available from the web site

In faith
